Deutsch: Das Bild zeigt eine North American P-51C Mustang, Seriennummer 103-26199, gebaut in Dallas/Texas, am 7. April 1944 ausgeliefert an das US Army Air Corps als 42-103645. Eingesetzt als Schulflugzeug in Florida, Georgia und Montana bis Oktober 1945, dann ausgemustert. In privater Hand seit 1970 mit verschiedenen zivilen Registrierungen (N9288, N215CA, seit 26. April 2001 als NL61429). Grundlegend restauriert von 1996 bis 2001, genannt Tuskegee Airmen, flog erstmals wieder am 10. Mai 2001.

Die neue Bemalung und Markierung ist nicht authentisch, sondern ein Sammelsurium von Einheitskennzeichen, die mit den Tuskegees in Verbindung stehen: Gelbe Bänder an den Tragflächen für die 101. Jägerstaffel, gelbe Trimmruder (hier nicht sichtbar) und gelbrote Streifen vorne für die 302. Jägerstaffel. Auf den Seiten (nicht sichtbar) ein A für die 99. Jägerstaffel und die Zahl 42 für die 301. Jägerstaffel sowie Markierungen verschiedener Bomberstaffeln.

Am 29. Mai 2004, acht Tage nachdem diese Aufnahme entstand, verünglückte diese Maschine bei einer Bruchlandung während einer Flugschau in Bay City, Wisconsin. Der Pilot David Hinz starb einen Tag später an seinen schweren Verletzungen, die Mustang wurde stark beschädigt und wird seither wieder aufgebaut.
